TESTIMONIALS

  • We absolutely loved the house and the location. The 24 hour bakery right around the corner was a definite perk. The check in process was easy and the house had everything we needed to enjoy our vacation. Caroline was very communicative and the check-in/ check-out process was easy. I would highly recommend staying here and will likely visit again. My family had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed our visit to London.

STEEPED IN EAST END LORE

The Britannia was a favourite hangout in the 50’s & 60’s of the infamous Kray Twins, London’s most notorious gangsters. The Britannia was one of the first gay pubs in East London in the 80’s & 90’s.

About the House

This stunning quirky and original house sits proudly upon a corner spot just off Brick Lane. It is absolutely stunning, having recently completed a 12 month refurbishment with no expense spared. Providing a very private, secure and extremely comfortable home in central London.

Located just off the Shoreditch end of London’s Brick Lane, The Britannia is within easy walking distance of the vintage, fashion and food establishments of Truman Brewery, Spitalfields, Columbia Road, London Fields and Victoria Park. The house is a stones throw from the achingly cool Redchurch Street and Shoreditch House, the Soho House outpost. The house has super fast wifi boosted on every floor and into every room. Additionally Sonos speakers can be found in every room of the house providing the perfect musical atmosphere for your stay.

This truly is bohemian London luxury at its best. You will not find a cooler fully serviced luxury rental in the area.

THE GRAND GROUND FLOOR

Entering the grand old public bar area through dramatic 10ft green velvet curtains gives an air of extravagance and excitement. Once inside the charm of the Britannia is all around you. To your left is an impressive 14 person solid oak dining table adorned with three large dramatic mid century style chandeliers. All running alongside two fireplaces glad in the old victorian pub tiles in their deep green, leading into the industrial style chef’s kitchen. A range of contemporary and old family art adorn the walls to complete this maximalist look.

The original pub parquet floor has been fully restored and runs throughout the entire dining and kitchen area. The kitchen has all new appliances, huge American style fridge freezer with filtered water tap, integral jug and large and small ice machine. A Rocket Milano espresso machine (and a smaller Nespresso machine for convenience), large double Smeg range oven and double butlers sink. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you would need for a comfy life, or a large family dinner or small gathering (subject to house rules). The kitchen comes with brand new stainless steel dishwasher, large washing machine and a separate dryer.

To the right of the ground floor, in a split level formation guests step up into the large sitting room area. A huge mustard yellow Arketipo Italian velvet sectional sofa fills this dramatic but cosy space, opposite two B&B Italia swivel chairs fireside.  Enough to comfortably seat 10 people in the round. Below the vast original pub windows, discreetly made private with beautiful cafe curtains on brass poles. Facing a remote activated large realistic log gas fire. A beautiful large B&B Italia glass coffee table ties the room together and is strewn with books and interesting artefacts from the owners travels. All facing a state of the art 79 inch Sony UHD TV with full Dolby Atmos 7.1 surround sound speaker system for family movies and screenings. Again the walls are adorned with interesting art collected by the owners over the last twenty years.

MASTER SUITE & CITY VIEWS

Saving the best for last is the master suite spanning the entire top floor. A large vaulted ceiling with flying beams and a roof light make this a most dramatic and exciting place to lay your head after a fun day in East London. A huge super king bed surrounded by sheep skins sits in the middle of the room, whilst behind it is a dressing area, wash basin and make up area aptly named the ‘Girls Club’…

Back in the main suite space a beautiful cast iron roll top bath completes this paradise. Allowing one to soak away the day in style either watching TV on the UHD TV system with surround sound or watch the twinkling lights of the city beyond the roof terrace outside. This triple aspect room is bathed in light all day and has two crittal style French doors opening out onto its private roof terrace.

This truly is a sanctuary, within a sanctuary… not to be missed.

ROOF TERRACE & PIZZA OVEN

Atop this slice of old London perfection can be found the Britannia private roof terrace. With stunning millboard smoked oak deckling, views of the city and surrounding area and outdoor kitchen, this is the place to be. Complete with HAY olive green outdoor sofas, a large cooler, Pizza Oven and Plancha. This private oasis completes the ultimate hideaway. Bathed in light in the middle of the day, this private outdoor space boats everything you need day or night. Gas heating is provided for your comfort, as are throws, bronze wall lights and festoon lights (remote controlled)  to set the perfect scene any time of day, anytime of year. Finally there is a Sonos Move for outdoor tunes and your perfect roof top session.

SLEEP. RELAX. ENJOY.
